Captain Malindine served as one of the War Office official photographers in France, Britain and North West Europe from 1940 to 1945. During this time, he photographed numerous key events, including the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940, D Day, the liberation of Paris and Belsen, the German surrender to Field Marshal Montgomery and the Potsdam Conference. One of the most experienced photographers to serve with the AFPU, Malindine worked with James Jarche as a staff photographer for the Daily Herald newspaper before the war, and returned to this job afterwards.
