Initially consisting of Block 10 in July 1943, the Sonderlager was co-located with the Ungarnlager in Block 11 in November 1944 when the Häftlingslager II was established to house the mass evacuations from other camps near the front.
July 1943 contains 2400 Jews who, although of Polish origin from Warsaw, Lemberg and Kracow, are citizens of neutral countries in Latin America and hold Palestine emigration papers. Prisoners kept in strict isolation since they had full knowledge of SS atrocities in Poland. By mid-1944 the majority of these prisoners had been transported to Auschwitz leaving only 350 remaining.
These prisoners were not required to work.
